Your first four steps

Start with the essentials.

Take it one step at a time. A few careful habits now can make a big difference later.

01
A good first step

Installation & first launch

Jaxx Liberty was offered for iOS, Android, desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux), and as a browser extension. Availability and support can change over time, so verify the current status before installing.

Only install from a source you trust

Use the official Jaxx website or the relevant official app store if a legitimate download is available. Avoid sponsored lookalike links, third-party mirrors, and unsolicited download prompts.

Create or restore your wallet

After opening the app, choose “Create New Wallet” to start fresh. To restore a wallet, follow the in-app recovery flow and carefully enter your 12-word phrase only in the genuine wallet app you installed. Never type it into a website or share it with someone claiming to be support.

Back up your recovery phrase

The 12-word backup phrase is the master key to your wallet. Write every word on paper in the exact order shown, check your spelling, then store it in secure physical locations. Anyone who gets this phrase may be able to access your funds.

Jaxx support will never need your recovery phrase. Do not photograph it, email it, or save it in cloud storage.

Protect what matters

Security & recovery best practices

Jaxx Liberty is a self-custody wallet: you control the keys, and you’re responsible for protecting access. Good security is a few thoughtful habits repeated consistently.

Set up an app lock

If available on your version, enable a PIN or biometric lock (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) to help prevent unauthorized physical access. This protects the app; it does not replace your recovery phrase.

01

Verify your recovery phrase

Complete any in-app phrase check carefully. Confirm that your written backup is legible, correctly ordered, and stored where you can retrieve it. Losing the phrase may mean permanently losing access.

02

Stay alert for impersonators

Ignore unsolicited messages asking you to “validate” or “sync” your wallet. Never disclose your phrase or enter it into a link sent by email, direct message, or pop-up.

Make your wallet yours

Managing assets & making transactions

Jaxx Liberty has supported assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Zcash, Binance Coin, and ERC-20 tokens. Available assets may vary by wallet version and network.

INCOMING

Receiving crypto

Choose an asset and share its public address or QR code. Confirm that the sender is using the correct network. Your public address is shareable; your recovery phrase is not.

OUTGOING

Sending crypto

Enter the recipient’s address and amount, then carefully review the asset, network, amount, and fee before confirming. A small test transfer can help when appropriate.

Portfolio & connected apps

The portfolio view can bring balances and market information for enabled assets together. Price charts are informational, not a promise of future value. Where available, WalletConnect can connect to decentralized apps—review permissions and the request details before approving.
